The main factors can influence the lubricity of drilling fluids include: drilling fluid viscosity and density, the solid type and content of drilling fluids, leak-off situation of drilling fluids, the rock conditions, formation water salinity, PH value of the solution, the use of lubricant and other treatment agent etc.
Commonly used to improve the lubricating properties of drilling fluids, it mainly through rationally use lubricant to reduce friction coefficient, then improving the quality of mud cake to enhance the lubricity of cake.
Two types of Lubricants are commonly used in the drilling fluid, one is inert solid lubricants: mainly include plastic pellets, graphite, carbon black, glass beads, and nut pellets etc. another is liquid-based lubricants: mainly are mineral oils, vegetable oils and surfactants etc.
