Sulfonated asphalt usually known as shale inhibitor sulfonated asphalt sodium

2016-08-26

Sulfonated asphalt is an asphaltic mud additive that has been reacted with sulfonate to add anionic sulfonate groups to the complex molecular structure, usually known as shale inhibitor sulfonated asphalt sodium.

They can emulsify fresh water or sea water with oil, depress the solid expansion of drill chips , control HTHP FL, produces thin and tenacious mud cakes, helps maintain low shearing rate under HTHP, cleans and stabilizes well holes that have a great deal of collapsing shale. Here we list several kinds of shale stabilizer.

Usual different kinds of shale stabilizers:
1.Inorganic inhibitors include: gypsum, Glauber's salt, potassium carbonate, potassium chloride;
2.The organic inhibitors include:
(1) Asphalt: such as oxidized asphalt, sulfonated asphalt, cation-modified asphalt, emulsified asphalt;
(2) Silicone: such as trichloromethylsilane, silicon fluoride (SF) and its modified formulation, humic acid and other silicon-based composites;
(3) Some epoxy-based polymers: such as ethylene oxide - propylene oxide copolymer, propylene oxide - polystyrene copolymer;
(4) Polymerization alcohols: such as polyvinyl alcohol, polypropylene, alcohols and the like;
(5) polyamide and nitrile types: such as polyacrylamide;
(6) Humic types: humic acid amide, potassium humic acid, humic acid silicon;
(7) other synthetic or copolymers.
